We are going to build the GoMurphCenter as a community. We will begin by hosting small group parties of folks who knew El Gordo to tell stories and dream dreams. We'll write a book together about how ridiculous he was, how he made us feel and how he got things done.
But legacies are for the living, so we will then shift our focus to building the spiritual retreat centers. The folks who get excited by our vision and mission (whether or not they ever had their name shouted across a room in greeting by Gordon) will join the building team with their labor, energy, creativity, networks, leadership, spirit and intelligence. And although we'll continue to speak of him fondly, we'll put Murph's portrait on a wall, above a display case with a baseball and a Bible, and dive into the work of treating others like Gordon treated us.
Rebecca's was blessed to have seed money to get the organization off the ground but that money is finite. We will raise funds for the following:
Operation funds through your financial donations.
Building spiritual retreat centers that pay for themselves through rental and program fees
Raise money for scholarships to be sure that the rest and care that we create is available to others in any financial situation.
Every dollar and prayer helps. Don't be afraid to be generous.
